A JOURNEY IN PAINT
Els Forger has traveled around the world as part of her work at the World Bank. In her most recent position as Procurement Manager for the South Asia Region she has cooperated with governments of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Maldives, Pakistan and Sri Lanka to develop country procurement and governance systems that optimize use of funds, and improve access to services by the poor and bring hope to their lives.
Els travels with her painter's eyes. Her years of work and travel have filled her with experiences, people, cultures, and colors, which she powerfully expresses in her abstract, full-of-life paintings.
Her energetic and passionate brushwork, whether on canvas or paper, whether large or small, is packed with emotion. Her work expresses an honest and deep exploration of what she has felt and witnessed during this remarkable time. Time and place are of the essence in her work.
I have known and worked with Els for the past 10 years. From the start I knew her to be fearless in her desire to create passionate art work. I feel her new body of paintings in this exciting series, "A JOURNEY IN PAINT”, continues her own personal witnessing of a world beyond the self. Mindy Weisel* Washington,DC, 2007
